The World Health Initiative Study concluded that combined oral synthetic hormones increased the risk of stroke, heart attack, breast cancer, and blood clots. Conversely, long-term studies of transdermal bioidentical hormone therapy DID NOT increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, or blood clots. A meta-analysis of 88,000 patients over the last 15 years revealed that there is no increased risk of breast cancer in women who take transdermal estrogen and oral natural micronized progesterone.
